How Much Does A New Phone System Cost?

New Phone System Cost variables are addressed here.

New Phone System CostFive Factors on A New Phone System Cost

  1. How much does a New Phone System Cost depends on many stations / extensions will it have?  The number of users is the obvious factor on how much a new phone system costs
    1. Premise based systems require circuit cards that handle phones in increments of 8-12 etc.  So, sometimes just adding a single phone can cross a threshold of needing an extra card or expansion cabinet and this leads to more than just a purchase of a single phone.  Without a maintenance agreement, installation charges of the card will be added to the cost of the additional phone or phones as well.
  2. Hosted phone systems just increase with each phone.  As a result, this is just truly an incremental increase in cost.

  1. Number of sites are a factor.  Connecting one or more sites using IP technology will increase the cost of the system.  However, it can make communicating more effective.
  2. What model phones – executive vs. hall phone.  More robust phones will add to the investment and phone meant for a lunch room is clearly less.
  3. Type of system – Digital, IP, Hybrid or Hosted.  Combining the capabilities of digital and IP phones will enhance the function of the system.  While having remote workers connect via an IP phone can improve the function of the business but also add to the investment.
  4. Ongoing support or maintenance agreement.  Adding these agreements to the initial purchase simplifies budgeting  when adjustments need made throughout the year.  So, when you need to add a phone the labor is covered under the agreement.  Unexpected changes are simply already accounted for.
  5. Term of agreement, model of phone and service level subscription for hosted plans affect the cost.  You may have a nominal install and capital costs with a Cloud PBX.  Some plans include the cost of the phone in the subscription and some do not.

Ranges can be $250/station up to $1,000 per station.
